Small-Group Shoulder Recovery Coaching Education Sessions
Clear, practical shoulder guidance from an experienced physiotherapist
Shoulder recovery can become confusing.
One source tells you to rest. Another tells you to exercise through the pain. Your scan may contain worrying language, while the exercises you have been given may not seem to match what you are experiencing.
TheShoulderPhysio’s live, small-group education sessions help you understand the principles behind shoulder pain, rehabilitation and recovery.
Each session focuses on one specific topic and gives you the opportunity to learn directly from Bruce Paulik, a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with more than 40 years of clinical experience.
These sessions provide general shoulder-recovery education. They do not include assessment, diagnosis, treatment or advice about an individual participant’s shoulder.

What makes these sessions different?
There is no shortage of general shoulder information online. The difficulty is knowing which information matters, what can be safely ignored and how the different pieces fit together.
Each session takes a common shoulder-recovery problem and explains it in clear, practical language.
Topics may include:
• Why shoulder pain often becomes worse at night.
• Understanding common terminology used in shoulder scans.
• The broad stages of shoulder recovery.
• Rebuilding shoulder strength after 40.
• Common reasons shoulder rehabilitation stalls.
• Preparing for shoulder surgery.
• Understanding the recovery process after shoulder surgery.
• Returning to gardening, swimming, golf, gym exercise or other valued activities.
• Questions to consider when discussing injections or surgery with your health professionals.
The aim is to help you become better informed, ask more useful questions and take a more active role in your recovery.
How each session works
Every session:
• Covers one clearly defined shoulder-recovery topic.
• Runs for 50 minutes.
• Is limited to a maximum of 12 participants.
• Includes a structured presentation from Bruce.
• Addresses selected general questions about the topic submitted before the session.
• Provides time for general clarification of the principles discussed.
Because places are limited, advance registration is required.
The small-group format allows for a more focused and useful discussion than a large webinar. However, it does not provide individual access to physiotherapy advice.
Submit your questions in advance
When registering, you may submit a general question related to the session topic.
Bruce will review the questions, combine those covering similar concerns and answer the questions most relevant and useful to the group. Submitting a question does not guarantee that it will be answered.
Questions that can be considered
Suitable questions include:
• Why does shoulder pain often become worse at night?
• What does a partial-thickness rotator cuff tear generally mean?
• How is shoulder strengthening usually progressed?
• Why can some shoulders take longer to recover than others?
• What factors do health professionals commonly consider before recommending surgery?
• What are the broad stages of recovery following rotator cuff surgery?
Questions that cannot be answered
The sessions cannot address questions such as:
• Do I need surgery for my rotator cuff tear?
• What is causing my shoulder pain?
• Is my recovery progressing normally?
• Should I stop or change my current exercises?
• Which exercises should I do for my condition?
• Can you interpret my scan or specialist report?
• Should I have an injection?
Please do not submit scans, medical reports, photographs, videos, exercise programs or detailed medical histories.
If a question contains personal health information, identifying details will not be used during the session.
How you can attend
Small-Group Shoulder Recovery Education Sessions will be available in three ways:
Annual paid subscribers
Two sessions each year will be included as part of an annual paid subscription to TheShoulderPhysio.
Eligible subscribers will receive details of each session in advance. Registration will still be required because every session is limited to 12 participants.
These included sessions are not part of the monthly paid subscription. Monthly subscribers may purchase a place in a separately available session.

Shoulder recovery courses
Some paid shoulder recovery courses will include one or more education sessions related to the course material.
The number and subject of the sessions will depend on the length and content of the course. Full details will be provided before enrolment.
Individual session tickets
Selected topic-based sessions will also be offered for separate purchase.
You can therefore attend a session addressing a concern that interests you without enrolling in a course or taking out an annual subscription.
The topic, date, cost and booking arrangements will be published when each session becomes available.

Recording and participant privacy
Sessions will be recorded so that the educational presentation can be made available for later viewing.
Participant names, video and voices will not be included in the recording. The recording will contain Bruce’s presentation and his answers to selected, de-identified general questions.
Information about access to the recording and how long it will remain available will be provided with the registration details for each session.
What these sessions do not provide
These sessions provide general education. They are not physiotherapy consultations or telehealth appointments.
Bruce will not:
• Assess your shoulder or watch you perform movements.
• Diagnose the cause of your symptoms.
• Interpret your scan or medical report.
• Prescribe or modify an exercise program.
• Advise whether you should have surgery or an injection.
• Recommend that you start, stop or change treatment.
• Comment on whether your personal recovery is progressing normally.
• Answer individual follow-up questions by email or direct message.
General information discussed during a session should not be used as a substitute for assessment and advice from your own physiotherapist, doctor, surgeon or other qualified health professional.
If you need advice about your particular shoulder problem, please consult an appropriately qualified health professional who can examine you and consider your full medical circumstances.
These sessions are not suitable for urgent medical concerns or recent serious injuries.
About Bruce Paulik
Bruce Paulik is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with three university degrees in Anatomy, Physiotherapy and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
Over more than 40 years of clinical practice, he has treated and rehabilitated more than 20,000 shoulders. His patients have ranged from elite athletes to active adults in their eighties and nineties.
That experience has shown him that shoulder recovery rarely depends on discovering one perfect exercise. Progress depends on understanding how pain, stiffness, strength, tissue irritability, confidence and personal goals interact over time.
Bruce created TheShoulderPhysio to help adults over 40 stop guessing, make better-informed recovery decisions and work more effectively with their own health professionals.
Learn more about your shoulder
A Small-Group Shoulder Recovery Education Session will not tell you exactly what to do about your individual shoulder.
It can help you understand the recovery principles that matter, recognize common misconceptions and ask better questions when making decisions with your own healthcare team.
Each session offers practical education grounded in more than four decades of shoulder rehabilitation experience.
Places are limited to 12 participants per session.
